A show with one of my favorite bands of all time. I’m a nerd but this makes me happy.
I remember seeing H2O at Mass Skate Co. in Westfield when I was a freshman in high school. My mom dropped me and my friends off in a station wagon and the crusty dudes who did coke, drank too much beer and tried to run the place had a good laugh. It was supposed to be H2O, Bouncing Souls, Vision and The Casualties. I guess the shared drummer of Vision and The Souls had some family issues so they both had to cancel, leaving me bummed but still siked to see H2O. I didn’t know either of the bands that H20 called up to help fill the bill but I was 14 or 15 years old so it didn’t really matter. I was going to like it no matter what because thats what you do at that age. Anyway, the band that opened the show that night was Hatebreed. Maybe you’ve heard of them? The band that followed was full of little zit faced kids(not unlike me and my friends) that were walking around selling CD’s. They were traveling in a minivan with one of their dads driving and they were called Saves The Day. The area where the bands played was right next to the half pipe and I remember seeing old hessian skater guys airing out of the half pipe, ditching their board in the air and landing on the crowd. Being 14 years old, I had never seen anything like that. I think back to that show fairly often and I know that night really made an impression on me, as so many shows back then did.
I don’t know if I got older and shows lost their novelty or if shows now just are not the same nowadays(wow, that makes me sound old). Either way, I’m excited to play this so come out and say hi!
