So, when I started this Tumblr thing I wasn’t exactly sure of what I would use it for. I’ve already started slacking on the posting and I’m pretty sure I’m struggling to be a half decent “blogger.” Frequent posting and exclusive content are key ingredients for a successful blog. I post less than once a week and the content is only exclusive because no one cares about it except me. Sweet.
One thing I know I want to do with this thing is introduce people to musicians I admire as people and artists. It might sound lame but all the songs I care most about have been written by my friends. No rock star with an expensive laser light show and millions of dollars is going to write a song I’ll ever relate to so I really can’t bring myself to care about them. My friends might not be the most talented or most articulate but they’ll play their guitars until their fingers turn to dust because there is nothing else that they want to do and that is something no one can fuck with. Thats honest music and honest music is all I care to listen to.
Anyway, with that being said, you should all check out my friend Trelayna. She lives in Tacoma, WA and plays stripped down American Nightmare and Fugazi covers on a ukulele. Yes, a ukulele! The bedroom recordings are all lo-fi but her voice somehow cuts through all the hissing and white noise and it’s just great. I don’t know what else to say other than I can’t get enough of this! She rules! She’s working on an E.P. of original songs that will be released at some point, but until then click the link below and check out her myspace. The first song on the player is an original, followed by the previously mentioned Fugazi and American Nightmare covers.
